KIMONO DRESS GOWN AND STRING BELT UPCYCLED FROM JAPANESE KIMONO

These Kimono Dress Gowns and String Belts are crafted from vintage silk kimonos.
Each piece is hand-sewn by our sewing team, led by a Certified Master-Class Kimono Dressmaker (Ikkyū Wasaishi / 一級和裁士), who preserves the original beauty and structure of the kimono while transforming it into a contemporary form.
The hem is finished with kuke-nui, a traditional hand blind stitch worked in fine, careful stitches so that nothing shows on the outside. The collar is also sewn by hand. Unlike machine stitching, which can pull and pucker delicate silk, hand sewing leaves a gentle ease in every seam, allowing the fabric to drape softly and naturally.
Machine sewing is used only on the inside of the string belt (obi), which is finished with traditional wasai techniques so that no stitching is visible on the surface.
