ABOUT
Hello! Thank you for visiting!
I’m Machiko. I live in Yamagata, Japan.
I am a lover of kimonos and kimono fabrics. I would like to see more people wearing them as everyday clothes, so my goal is to make them appealing to more people.
But beyond that - Japan is going through several struggles currently — an aging society, older generations living and dying in isolation, rural towns and communities decaying, leaving beautiful pieces of wearable art to decay and be forgotten. Remembering and reviving the kimono is a big part of my drive.
This vintage garment from MACHIKO KIMONO has been professionally cleaned by kimono cleaning specialist.
Though our prices have risen, my sincere hope is that you will feel comfortable in and really enjoy your Kimono and Haori when they arrive. I hope that you will love Kimono and Haori as much as I do.

About my upcycled brand
一陽来福 ichiyouraifuku
The phrase 一陽来福, "Ichiyou Raifuku," means "the end of winter and the coming of spring (the new year, new life, and new prosperity).
It is the belief that after a time of bad events, good luck will always come again.
I chose this name for my shop in the hope that our world, which has been damaged by the pandemic and war, will recover. And happy days will come again.
I create new pieces by repurposing and customizing old cloth and fabrics.
I create clothes with a Japanese flare, and I also hope to share fresh kimono styles and ideas through my videos.
I carefully wash and restore vintage kimonos and fabrics that have been in storage, and I remake them into unique everyday clothes, delivered right to you!
Each piece is completely handmade with love, from the washing and restoration of the fabric to the sewing of each custom stitch.
My vision is to create new pieces from vintage Japanese fabrics and share the loveliness of those fabrics with you!
And in the process, I hope my initiative works toward a more sustainable society.
I hope to spread this vision with you and around the world!
I deeply appreciate your support for my work.
Thank you!
