This EDO-ZUMA SKIRT is made from a vintage silk kimono.
My sewing team and I are pleased to propose this EDO-ZUMA SKIRT as an upcycled piece.
It is hand-sewn by our sewing team, led by a Certified Master-Class Kimono Dressmaker (Ikkyū Wasaishi / 一級和裁士) in Yamagata, Japan.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece. I carefully handpicked this kimono, which is in very good condition for a vintage garment.

〈About the Gold Decoration〉
Various gold decoration techniques were used at the time this kimono was made, and due to the nature of vintage textiles, the original techniques and materials cannot be identified.
When storing the garment, please avoid folding the gold-decorated areas against each other or leaving them in prolonged contact with other fabrics, as the gold may stick or peel over time.

〈About the Hiyoku Lining Removal〉
This skirt has been upcycled from a vintage black tomesode kimono. The hiyoku — a ceremonial inner lining panel traditionally sewn inside formal kimono — was removed during the upcycling process, so faint stitch marks may remain along the interior seams.
Professional cleaning before shipment may make these marks less visible, but some traces may still remain. We appreciate your understanding that this is part of what makes each piece one of a kind.

〈About Kote (Tailor's Iron) Marks on the Obi Belt〉
The obi belt of this skirt is made from repurposed fabric of the original kimono. In traditional kimono tailoring, a small iron called a kote is used to mark sewing positions on the fabric. Because of this, faint scorch-like kote marks, originally hidden inside the garment, may appear on the visible surface of the obi belt.
These marks are an inherent characteristic of upcycled kimono pieces, and we appreciate your understanding that they are part of the story each garment carries.

[Packing] Shipped in a special MACHIKO KIMONO kimono box.

*As all of our pieces are made by partially or fully disassembling the original kimono, there may be stains or slight damage common to vintage fabrics. Thank you for your understanding.
