“KAMON 家紋 ”About the mark on this HAORI
This mark is called KAMON and is the emblem representing the family.
In the old days, only a few people of high status were allowed to have KAMON, but in the Meiji era (1868-1912), ordinary people were allowed to have KAMON.

It is mainly used as a coat of arms for the first formal jacket.
This HAORI is called “KUROMONTSUKI HAORI 黒紋付羽織” in Japan. It used to be worn as the first formal jacket for Japanese men.
However, in modern Japan, very few people wear kuromontsuki haori for formal wear anymore.
It is only worn at weddings for Japanese-style wedding ceremonies, and attendees also usually wear suits.

I am drawn to the beauty of the KUROMONTSUKI HAORI 黒紋付羽織.
In the rural Tohoku town where I live, these HAORI, which are intended only to be worn as traditional formal wear, are often not used and stored for long periods of time, and then disposed of along with the house when the owner passes away.

My proposal is different from the original way of wearing kimono.

This haori family crest is called 「丸に違い鷹の羽 」 and was favored by samurai in olden times. Since the Meiji era, it has been used by many ordinary people.
The falcon's feather crest is one of the five major crests that are used by a great number of families.

I propose to wear this haori as a unisex casual fashion item.
