“KAMON 家紋 ”About the mark on this HAORI
This mark is called KAMON and is the emblem representing the family.
In the old days, only a few people of high status were allowed to have KAMON, but in the Meiji era (1868-1912), ordinary people were allowed to have KAMON.
This haori family crest is called 「Maru-ni-yotsukenkatabami 丸に四つ剣片喰紋」The Katabami crest is modeled after the leaves of the oxalis plant. Known for its vitality, as it does not wither even when trampled, it is one of the oldest family crests in Japan.
