Genuine vintage Japanese kimono.
This is called a HAORI.

One-of-a-kind-vintage.

This fabric is called shibori.
Kimonos are dyed and embroidered using a variety of techniques, one of which is the “tie-dyeing” technique.
This is a technique in which fabrics are dyed by binding them with threads or sandwiched with a device to prevent dyeing, and then dyed with dyestuffs to create complex patterns.

The pattern on this shibori haori is likely a dahlia. In Japanese, the dahlia is known as “Botan Tenjiku” (牡丹天竺).

Note: “Tenjiku” (天竺) is an old Japanese term that historically referred to India, often used in poetic or symbolic contexts to evoke exoticism or distant beauty.

A beautiful design created by a past artisan. We honor their craftsmanship with deep respect.

I carefully handpicked this piece, which is in very good condition for a vintage garment.
